Tip - Listen to other people, particularly the skipper. He may not be infallible but he is usually right.
Tip - Best tool for sorting out tangles is scissors. Usually much quicker than unravelling it and much safer than a knife.
Tip - Keep quiet when boat fishing in shallow water - No need to whisper, talking is no problem but fish (Bass in particular) are sensitive to bangs and thumps. Skippers are also very sensitive the noise of leads hitting their boats (fibeglass is tough but the gel-coat is brittle and chips quite easily).
Tip - Throw away used hooks - Using them is a false economy. Rust may have weakened them. If they have any water on them at all, when they are replaced in the packet they may rust all the other hooks. They may have been blunted by use. Would you ever consider BUYING used hooks?. If you save 50p it will seem a pretty poor bargain if it costs you a "Fish of a lifetime"
