A bit about the club
As we have no local port (we are based in Guildford which is 35 miles from the sea) our members travel quite large distances by road often sharing to keep costs down.
In the past the club has chartered boats for days out from Brighton, Dartmouth, Deal, Dover, Langstone Harbour (Hayling Island),Exmouth, Keyhaven, Minehead, Newhaven, Ramsgate, Watchet and Weymouth. To vary the fishing and/or to get more fishing per mile travelled the club has organised short breaks (2 days – 1 week) in Alderney, Courtmacsherry (Ireland), Dartmouth, Exmouth, Guernsey, Minehead, Mawganporth (nr Padstow) Tobermory Bay (Scotland) Weymouth and Whitby.
Members also get together in small groups or travel singly to more exotic locations all over the world such as Florida, Kenya, Namibia, Seychelles and New Zealand.
GCSAC Members accept the trophy The club also encourages members to enter competitions. In 2008, Guildford "A" team (Mick Doody and Chris Goddard) won the Conger Club Affiliated Clubs Championship at Plymouth.

*With thanks to Bryn and Kath Lavis for the photo.*
Then in 2009 Chris Goddard boated the largest fish in the same competition
and 2011 we had a good showing in the Conger Club Members Champoinship, Jim Grant taking the prize for the most eels returned over the two days and we also made three-quarters of "Micks and Match", who won the team event. (see Latest Reports ) or the BCC website
Meetings
During 2014 GCSAC wiil be meeting on the first TUESDAY of the month(except fot September when it will be on the 9th) at the City Club
Members are only able to book places on most of the boat trips up to 3 months ahead and those those actually attending the meeting get the first chance to book (more information on the Calendar ). Even then we have members from as far away as Minehead, Leeds, and even Aberdeen They are so keen to fish with us join us (particularly on our longer trips) that they think it worth paying their annual dues even though they are at the back of the bookings queue because they cannot get to our meetings.
The meeting officially starts at 8:30 pm in the room upstairs but members gather in the bar from about 8:00.
Prospective members are welcome to come along to check us out or get in touch with us via any of the methods on our contacts page.
The future
Buddy with 12lb Bass Every year, toward the end of the summer, the club arranges charter boats for the next calendar year and as soon as it is finalised the club calendar is printed and distributed to members (usually at the September meeting).
However, to help our members as much as possible with long-term planning, detils of future events will appear on the on-line Calendar as soon as we commit to a charter.
The charters include boats for at least 2 club competitions and several longer trips (from 2 days up to a week long) as well as the normal one-day trips. Additional weekday/weekend trips may me added during the year at short notice.
